Job SummaryWe are seeking a skilled Speech Therapist to join our team at Spindletop Hill Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. As a Speech Therapist, you will conduct assessments and reassessments of rehabilitation needs and potential, planning, implementing, and supervising therapeutic programs to improve or restore communicative and swallowing abilities.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct assessments and reassessments of patients' communication and swallowing disorders by applying diagnostic and prognostic procedures.
- Plan, implement, and supervise individualized therapeutic programs to restore and/or improve communicative activities of daily living and treat swallowing disorders.
- Coordinate and collaborate with the Rehab Director and other professionals to ensure integration of the therapeutic program in the plan of care.
- Guide and teach patients in techniques, exercises, or precautions designed to improve their ability to swallow and communicate.
- Observe, record, and report patients' reactions to treatment and any changes in their condition or treatment.
- Instruct other agency personnel and patients' family members in activities of speech therapy in which they may safely and effectively assist the patient.
- Participate in patient case conferences to coordinate the patient's plan of care and promote positive therapeutic outcomes.
- Participate in continuous assessment and evaluation of the agency via Quarterly Record Review or the Quality Assurance/Improvement Program.
- Fulfill state guidelines and maintain appropriate documentation when supervising an Assistant in speech.
- Maintain a code of ethics set by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
- Master's Degree in Speech Pathology (or equivalent) from a University program accredited by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
- Current licensure by the state of Texas to practice as a Speech-Language-Pathologist.
- Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology by the American Speech Language Hearing Association.
- One (1) year experience in Speech Language Pathology in a home health setting preferred.
The Speech Therapist will work in a dynamic and supportive environment at Spindletop Hill Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. The ideal candidate will be able to adapt to client status and needs as directed, with schedule changes daily due to client condition and needs, new clients, etc.
The Speech Therapist will be required to have a car with current insurance coverage and a state driver's license.
The Speech Therapist will be exposed to possible infections from clients, auto accidents, and unsafe neighborhoods.
