About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Maintenance Operations Manager to join our team at Smithfield Foods. As a key member of our maintenance department, you will be responsible for leading a team of maintenance professionals in the installation, repair, and preventive maintenance of equipment used throughout our plant, facilities, and utilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead maintenance crews in the installation, repair, and preventive maintenance of equipment to ensure optimal plant performance and minimize downtime.
  • Oversee the maintenance of processes to reduce mechanical downtime and maintain product flows and production lines at maximum efficiency.
  • Develop and implement maintenance systems, processes, and documentation to support efficient and high-performing manufacturing operations.
  • Ensure maintenance is scheduled in a timely manner and work closely with production teams to schedule and accomplish equipment and facility repairs.
  • Develop and maintain key performance indicators for tracking and reporting the performance of the maintenance function.
  • Provide long-term solutions and day-to-day support to operating teams experiencing issues with troubleshooting, problem analysis, equipment failures, and more.
  • Train employees on proper work methods and safety procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance work performed and inventory.
  • Provide regular status reports to the maintenance management team.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Engineering or a related field and 2+ years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience acting as a lead by providing training, coaching, or mentoring to less experienced staff or through managing a process or project.
  • Advanced technical skills in ammonia refrigeration, high-pressure boiler, compressed air, mechanical, and electrical fields, including PLCs, instrumentation, mechanical engineering, and more.
  • Thorough knowledge of maintenance systems, work order processes, preventive/predictive maintenance, TPM, inventory, and scheduling software.
  • Strong leadership skills, including conflict resolution, facilitation, change management, decision-making, empowerment, and delegation.
  • Ability to lead problem-solving and troubleshooting efforts associated with high-level process issues.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient with MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Good planning and priority setting skills.
  • Ability to work well with others in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Ability to be respectful, approachable, and team-oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment.
  • Bilingual, preferred.
