Position Summary

Experienced Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners play a vital role in our multidisciplinary team, providing excellence in emergency medical care in various treatment areas, including the Emergency Department, Fast Track, and The Urgency Room. They coordinate care with consultant services, recommend follow-up care, facilitate referrals to internal and external facilities, and participate in continuous quality improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide healthcare services to patients under the supervision of a physician
  • Conduct comprehensive physical examinations and compile patient medical data
  • Administer or order diagnostic tests, interpret results, and perform therapeutic procedures
  • Develop and implement patient management plans, record progress notes, and assist in continuity of care
  • Prescribe, administer, and dispense medications, controlled substances, and medical devices
  • Instruct and counsel patients regarding compliance with prescribed therapeutic regimens
  • Maintain accurate patient records and demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills
Requirements
  • 1+ years of experience working as an APC in a tertiary, high-volume hospital emergency department
  • Completion of an accredited physician assistant or nursing practitioner program
  • Current licensure with the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice or Minnesota Board of Nursing
  • Current ACLS, ATLS, and BLS certification
  • Ability to efficiently manage multiple clinical tasks and demonstrate strong professionalism
Working Conditions

APCs work in a hospital emergency department and acute care clinic, requiring long periods of sitting and standing, as well as the ability to regularly lift up to 30 pounds. The environment includes working with a diverse group of patients with various degrees of illness. Schedules can vary according to practice setting, but may include days, nights, and weekends.
