Job Summary:
The Alabama 4-H Center, a premier camp and conference venue situated on 264 acres of picturesque forested land, is seeking dedicated grounds maintenance personnel to enhance our team.
Temporary Employment Services (TES), part of the Auburn University Department of Human Resources, serves as an internal support unit designed to fulfill the temporary staffing requirements of the university. TES recruits skilled and committed temporary staff across various roles to address the diverse needs of the campus. Temporary positions are often filled for reasons such as:
- Providing coverage for regular employees who are temporarily unavailable
- Offering additional support during peak workload periods
- Assisting with special initiatives
- Seasonal employment opportunities
- Responding to urgent staffing needs
Note: AU student employees are not eligible for TES positions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain the grounds of the 4-H Center utilizing various tools including shovels, picks, rakes, and power equipment such as weed eaters, edgers, hedge trimmers, blowers, chainsaws, and lawn mowers.
- Perform essential landscaping tasks including weed removal, plant irrigation, and the installation of pine straw and mulch.
- Conduct debris clearance, ensuring cleanliness and litter control across grounds, parking areas, and the removal of fallen branches and trees.
- Utilize a pressure washer to maintain cleanliness of sidewalks, bridges, and outdoor spaces.
- Regularly check fluid levels and blade sharpness to ensure proper equipment maintenance.
- Set up tables and chairs for meetings and events, and assist with maintenance projects throughout the campus.
- Adhere to all safety standards and regulations as outlined by the Alabama 4-H Center and Auburn University.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Ability to safely operate landscaping tools and equipment
- This role frequently involves physical activities such as lifting, bending, and other exertions. Employees may be exposed to various environmental conditions including heat, cold, noise, dust, and chemicals.
- Regular tasks may require standing, walking, reaching, stooping, kneeling, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
Salary range is $10.00-$12.00 per hour.
Work Schedule:
Typically begins at 7:30 AM, subject to variation based on operational needs.
