  • Embrace the principles and philosophy of community college education.
  • Be prepared for evening and weekend teaching commitments, including on-campus, off-campus, and online course delivery. Note that this position is not remote. Certain teaching roles may require specific security clearances.
Minimum Qualifications
  • A degree in the relevant field is required unless specified otherwise. Exceptions may be made for qualified candidates.
  • Fluency in Hawaiian, both spoken and written, along with proficiency in English, and one of the following qualifications: (a) Master's degree in Hawaiian (language or literature); (b) Master's degree in cultural studies or history related to Hawaiian speakers; (c) Master's degree in Linguistics, ESL, Education, or another language with at least 12 credits in advanced coursework relevant to Hawaiian studies; (d) Bachelor's degree in Hawaiian (language or literature) with three years of relevant experience; (e) Bachelor's degree in cultural studies or history related to Hawaiian speakers with three years of relevant experience; or (f) Bachelor's degree in Linguistics, ESL, Education, or another language with 12 credits in advanced coursework and three years of relevant experience.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Experience teaching at the community college level.
  • Proven ability to engage effectively with community college students.
  • Relevant work experience in the subject area.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Familiarity with competency-based education and learning objectives.
  • Experience working with diverse student populations.
  • Proficiency in using technology to enhance instruction and support student success, including learning management systems and presentation tools.
  • Willingness to embrace new technological platforms.
