Flammability Lab Manager

As a Flammability Lab Manager at Raytheon Technologies, you will oversee and enhance the scheduling of test coupons, streamline material flow, and coordinate manufacturing, procurement, shipping, and testing processes.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and inspire a dedicated team of technicians, handling all people-management responsibilities to foster a high-performing work environment.
  • Collaborate seamlessly with the Flammability Engineering group, EDL Purchasing, EDL Conformity, EDL Management, and external suppliers to orchestrate all flammability testing activities, ensuring alignment with program objectives.
  • Work closely with the Flammability Engineering group to effectively schedule and prioritize upcoming A, C, and D-burn projects, optimizing resource allocation and project timelines.
  • Develop and maintain visual management tools and standard operating procedures for flammability projects, enhancing transparency and operational efficiency.
  • Liaise with EDL Purchasing to guarantee timely procurement and delivery of essential materials for burn projects, aligning with critical program deadlines.
  • Maintain a well-organized inventory of materials necessary for the creation of flammability test coupons, ensuring readiness for all testing phases.
  • Conduct rigorous in-house tests on flammability coupons to validate performance and compliance with established standards.
  • Delegate work assignments, manage schedules, and review ongoing projects to maintain high standards of quality and efficiency.
  • Identify and recommend modifications to standard procedures, driving continuous improvement in testing protocols and documentation.
  • Ensure thorough documentation, reporting, and storage of test results, maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee the maintenance and calibration of test equipment, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.

Requirements:
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience
  • Experience in the Aircraft Industry
