About UTMB Health

UTMB Health is committed to delivering exceptional healthcare services, addressing the unique needs of underserved populations within the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) and the Texas Juvenile Justice Department (TJJD).

Responsibilities
  • Obtains medical histories, performs physical examinations, and suggests relevant studies to establish or support a diagnosis.
  • Formulates therapeutic regimens for treatment of pathologic states or disabling entities, ensuring proper documentation of existing medical conditions.
  • Counsels patients on preventive medicine regimens, reviews medical records, and monitors treatment progress.
Requirements
  • Completion of a physician assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA), certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA), and licensure as a Physician Assistant by the Texas Physician Assistant Board/Texas Medical Board (TPAB/TMB).
  • For Nurse Practitioner: Completion of a graduate-level nurse practitioner program accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), certification by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), and licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in a nurse practitioner clinical area of specialization by the Texas Board of Nursing (TBON).
Salary Range

$80,000 - $110,000 per year, commensurate with years of relevant work experience.
