Job Summary

As an Armed Security Guard with Ahtna Professional Services, Inc., you will play a critical role in maintaining the safety and security of our facilities and personnel. This position requires a high level of situational awareness, decision-making, and communication skills to effectively respond to various security situations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct regular patrols and inspections of buildings and facilities to identify potential security risks and threats.
  • Monitor alarms, radio traffic, and other information sources to stay informed of potential security incidents.
  • Respond to fire alarms, burglary alarms, and other security incidents in accordance with established protocols.
  • Screen and inspect vehicles and pedestrians entering and exiting the facility to prevent the passage of prohibited articles.
  • Escort individuals or vehicles as directed by post orders and protocols.
  • Use communication devices effectively to report incidents and coordinate responses.
  • Monitor and maintain access control systems, including electronic access control and RFID systems.
  • Perform random surveillance of buildings and facilities to detect unauthorized or inappropriate activity.
  • Provide additional security support for scheduled events and unscheduled emergencies as requested by supervisors.
  • Maintain accurate activity logs and administrative documents as required by contract.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years of security/civilian law enforcement experience or equivalent experience with the United States Armed Forces.
  • Ability to follow directions, meet attendance requirements, and complete necessary training to certify with the State.
  • Fluency in speaking and writing in English.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background screen, drug test, and physical exam.
Preferred Qualifications
  • First Aid/CPR certification.
  • Prior experience with the Glock platform.
  • Proficiency in basic computer skills.
Work Environment

The position may require extensive sitting, watching monitors, walking around the facility in various weather conditions, and kneeling and stooping to look under or inside vehicles or containers.
