Science Systems and Applications, Inc. (SSAI) is actively seeking a Deputy Editor to enhance NASA's communication strategies within the realm of Earth science.
The ideal candidate will be a multifaceted editor proficient in various editing tasks, including but not limited to content, copy, and line editing for articles, social media posts, web content, and video scripts. This role also encompasses supporting content creation, researching and selecting appropriate imagery and video, offering editorial advice for data visualization and graphics, and collaborating with writers and producers on multimedia projects.
Successful candidates must be U.S. Citizens and will engage in full-time work, primarily in a remote capacity. Responsibilities further include fact-checking and proofreading to uphold high standards of journalism and scientific integrity.
Applicants should possess a Bachelor's degree in writing, journalism, communications, or a related discipline, alongside a minimum of 5 years of editing experience. Preferred qualifications include expertise in Earth science, remote sensing, geophysics, and effective communication regarding climate change.
This position demands meticulous attention to detail, accuracy, and the ability to convey complex technical subjects in accessible language. It also requires collaboration within a distributed team and proficiency in the Microsoft suite of products.
