Position Overview:
The Area Supervisor (AS) is a part-time role responsible for overseeing a team of Retail Merchandisers within a designated region. Retail Merchandisers are tasked with maintaining card departments and displays for both everyday and seasonal offerings. Additionally, they engage in installation tasks that include constructing Hallmark fixtures, relocating card departments, and executing store remodels.

Key Responsibilities:
1) Supervision and Management:

  • Lead a team of approximately 5 to 10 Retail Merchandisers, ensuring well-maintained card departments and timely execution of seasonal and everyday programs.
  • Document and manage team performance with input from management.
  • Address retailer concerns and execution issues by collaborating with store management and team members.
  • Work typically occurs Monday through Friday during daytime and early evening hours, with occasional weekend work during peak holiday seasons.

2) Department Resets and Remodels:

  • Prepare, guide, and follow up on minor installations, including product resets and fixture assembly.
  • Lead or assist in major installations when business needs require additional support.
  • Major installations may involve relocating card departments and merchandising products.

Essential Qualities of an Area Supervisor:

  • A leader who can motivate, empower, and inform the team.

  • A decision-maker who can operate independently and guide the team with minimal oversight.

Physical Requirements:
This role is physically demanding and requires a high level of energy and urgency. Responsibilities include working on the sales floor and in stockrooms. Candidates must be able to consistently push, pull, lift, and carry items weighing up to 30 pounds throughout the workday, with occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds. The role also requires stooping, squatting, walking, and standing, as well as climbing stairs and using step ladders.

Qualifications:

  • Access to a Wi-Fi network and the internet.
  • Ability to operate handheld technology for document access and information interpretation.
  • Flexibility to adapt to a changing work schedule, including occasional evenings or weekends.
  • Reliable transportation to report to assigned locations as scheduled.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States.
  • Proficiency in reading, understanding, and communicating in English.
  • Minimum age of 18 years.
  • Availability to work during peak holiday periods.
