Currently, NV5 is looking for a Mid-Level Mechanical Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a self-driven attitude and a solid understanding of building MEP systems design, operation, commissioning, and construction processes. This role involves engaging in the demonstration and documentation of Building Systems performance, LEED processes, troubleshooting analyses, facility condition assessments, and energy conservation measure surveys, all under the umbrella of commissioning, retro-commissioning, and re-commissioning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Senior Commissioning Engineers and Project Managers for technical guidance and support the development of Junior Commissioning Engineers.
  • Execute specific daily assignments using established methods and standard documents.
  • Apply standard practices and techniques, adjusting and gathering data while following operations through a series of related steps or processes.
  • Conduct basic calculations and assist in evaluating fundamental engineering guidelines, code compliance requirements, and industry standards.
  • Develop comprehensive Commissioning Documentation including Cx Plans, Specifications, Reports, Manuals, Checklists, Tests, Review and Issue Logs, etc.
  • Perform design and submittal reviews, ensuring adherence to specifications.
  • Attend site visits to verify system and equipment installations, preparing field reports to document observations and functional testing.
  • Analyze test results against acceptance criteria outlined in the test procedures.
  • Assist in troubleshooting, analyzing, and researching equipment/system issues to identify root causes.
  • Provide solutions and corrective actions for commissioning issues identified during site visits and functional testing.
  • Manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Participate in the commissioning of facility management systems.
  • Other duties may include administrative tasks to support project completion and smooth operation of the firm.
  • Enhance job knowledge and technical expertise through educational opportunities and professional publications.
  • Travel may be required up to 50% of the time.
  • Maintain effective communication with clients, contractors, and project team members.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an ABET accredited Engineering program.
  • LEED Accredited Professional certification is a plus.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in building MEP systems design, energy studies, and commissioning.
  • Knowledge of Electrical Systems is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Experience with building mechanical, electrical, and life safety systems operations.
  • Ability to obtain Security and CORI clearance from commercial, private, and government agencies.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
  • Ability to interpret drawings is advantageous.
  • Introductory knowledge of BIM Revit and AutoCAD is beneficial.
