Under the supervision of a school bus operator, certified educator, or school official, the School Transportation Monitor plays a crucial role in ensuring the safe arrival and departure of students on school buses. This position is vital for the effective and secure transportation of students to and from educational institutions and events. The School Transportation Monitor is also tasked with overseeing student behavior in various non-classroom environments throughout the school day, including during breakfast, lunch, and dismissal periods.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain consistent and reliable attendance throughout the academic year, working on all days when students are present.
- Understand and comply with all policies and procedures set forth by the organization and school district.
- Exhibit cooperation and adaptability in executing additional duties as assigned by school leadership.
- Arrive on time for duty and perform all responsibilities with safety as a priority.
- Assist with the loading and unloading of students during arrival and departure.
- Ensure the safe seating of students on the bus using appropriate safety equipment.
- Continuously monitor bus passengers to uphold safety regulations and student conduct standards.
- Help maintain cleanliness and order within the assigned vehicle.
- Conduct health-related checks, such as temperature screenings, for individuals boarding the bus when required.
- Ensure that students take their belongings with them upon exiting the vehicle.
- Supervise student behavior in various non-classroom settings, including hallways and cafeterias.
- Serve as a positive role model for students, demonstrating good character and integrity.
- Provide instructional support to students as needed.
- Complete all necessary documentation and submit it to the appropriate department promptly.
