Job Summary

This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to lead the operations and management of Navajo Lake State Park as a State Park Law Enforcement Ranger Superintendent. As a key member of the State Parks team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of visitors, staff, and the park's natural and cultural resources.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and oversee the management of the park's operations and maintenance, including the implementation of day-to-day operations and tracking of programs related to basic operations and maintenance.
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and standards of care for the park, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Manage the administration of the park, including personnel issues, budgeting, and resource allocation.
  • Ensure the safety of staff and visitors, addressing any incidents or concerns promptly and effectively.
  • Collaborate with other agencies and stakeholders to achieve park goals and objectives.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Parks and Recreation Management, Environmental Sciences, Forestry, Criminal Justice, or Wildlife Management from an accredited college or university.
  • Seven years of experience in parks and recreation management, natural resources, biology, environmental sciences, forestry, criminal justice, and/or wildlife management, with three years of supervisory experience.
  • Certification as a New Mexico peace officer.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and make prompt decisions in stressful situations.
Working Conditions

This position requires the incumbent to be in optimum physical condition, with regular exposure to outdoor weather conditions, machinery, and potential hazards. The use of various hand and power tools is required on occasion. The ability to see at a distance and close-up, hear in quiet and noisy environments, and communicate effectively is essential.
