Job Summary

Steelbach is seeking a skilled Sauté Cook to join our culinary team. As a key member of our kitchen staff, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of dishes to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and cook sautéed vegetables and other ingredients to exacting standards
  • Assist in maintaining inventory and tracking key ingredients
  • Communicate effectively with the head chef and wait staff to ensure timely delivery of meals
  • Comply with food and health regulations and safety standards
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary workstation
  • Communicate with the restaurant manager about kitchen supplies and upgrades
  • Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of industry standards and food safety guidelines
  • Demonstrating proper hygiene behavior
  • Ability to offer excellent customer satisfaction
  • Positive attitude and ability to thrive in a fast-paced kitchen
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work for long periods and on public holidays
  • Availability to work evening and weekend shifts
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Culinary school diploma preferred
  • Valid Food Handlers Certificate
  • Previous experience in the hospitality industry

Physical Requirements:

  • Remain standing for extended periods of time
  • Bending, squatting and lifting up to 20 lbs. for short distances
  • Ability to work with varying noise levels
