POSITION LOCATION
SUMMARY OF ROLE
The primary responsibility of this role is to operate a diesel-powered tractor-trailer for the safe transportation of various heavy machinery. This includes the essential tasks of loading and securing equipment for transit between locations.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare, receive, and manage the necessary documentation for equipment delivery or pickup, including pre-trip and daily logs, adhering to BIT guidelines, as well as daily time sheets, delivery sheets, and safety inspections.
- Operate the vehicle in compliance with DOT Federal and State regulations.
- Demonstrate proficiency in loading and unloading equipment using securement tools such as chains and binders.
- Receive daily schedules from the dispatcher and ensure timely deliveries.
- Conduct light maintenance tasks (fueling, greasing, repairing, cleaning) on the truck and report any need for extensive repairs to the supervisor.
- Ensure customer acknowledgment of rental agreements upon delivery, documenting any equipment damage.
- Identify and report any abnormal equipment conditions to the supervisor within 24 hours.
- Report any accidents immediately to the dispatcher or supervisor.
- Recognize and report unsafe working conditions.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
SKILLS REQUIRED
- Ability to read and understand simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Capability to write service reports effectively.
- Ability to present information clearly in one-on-one and small group settings to customers and colleagues.
- Maintain a consistent state of alertness and safety while performing essential functions.
- Apply common sense to execute instructions provided in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and fellow employees based on verbal and written instructions.
- Share knowledge and skills with other technicians to build competencies.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
A high school diploma or GED, along with one to two years of relevant equipment experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES
A valid Class A driver’s license is required, along with a clean DMV record.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required for this role include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

The characteristics of the work environment described here are representative of those an employee may encounter while performing the essential functions of this role.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts, climbs to heights of 10 feet or more, and is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee often works in outdoor weather conditions and may occasionally be exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and vibrations. The work environment primarily involves operating a tractor/trailer and driving on various roads and highways. The noise level in the work environment is typically moderate, but can occasionally be loud.
COMPENSATION
Hourly Pay Rate: $31.00
Compensation is dependent on knowledge, skills, and abilities.
