Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Engineer to join our Technology team. As a Senior Data Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining scalable and efficient data pipelines for collecting, processing, consuming, and storing large datasets. You will also be responsible for designing and developing data solutions using Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Azure SQL Database, Azure Synapse Analytics, and other Azure services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Data Pipeline Development: Design, build, and maintain scalable and efficient data pipelines for collecting, processing, consuming, and storing large datasets.
  • Data Solution Development: Design and develop data solutions using Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Azure SQL Database, Azure Synapse Analytics, and other Azure services.
  • ETL Process Management: Build and maintain ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to ensure data is accurate, consistent, and available for analysis.
  • Data Integration: Integrate data from multiple data sources, including APIs, databases, and external data providers, ensuring seamless data flow and consistency.
  • Data Management: Implement data management practices to ensure data quality, including data cleansing, normalization, and validation techniques.
  • Database Management: Design and manage relational and NoSQL databases to support diverse data needs.
  • Database Performance Optimization: Optimize database performance, including indexing, partitioning, and query optimization.
  • Data Warehousing and Data Lakes: Develop and maintain data warehouses and data lakes, ensuring efficient storage and retrieval of large datasets.
  • Data Security: Implement strategies for data archiving, backup, and disaster recovery.
  • Real-Time Data Pipelines: Ensure the reliability and scalability of real-time data pipelines.
  • Data Access and Usage Monitoring: Monitor and audit data access and usage to detect and prevent unauthorized access.
  • Collaboration and Mentorship: Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and other stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into technical solutions. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior data engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Problem-Solving and Analytical Skills: Monitor data pipelines and systems to identify and resolve issues promptly. Implement logging and monitoring solutions to ensure data pipeline reliability and performance.
  • Industry Trends and Technologies: Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends, tools, and technologies to drive innovation within the team.
  • Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate and improve existing data infrastructure and processes for efficiency and scalability.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, or related field; alternately, equivalent experience in a relevant role.
  • Experience: 5-7 years of experience in a Data Engineer role.
  • Skills: Strong knowledge in data modeling, data warehousing, and ETL processes. Strong knowledge of database management systems (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL). Proficiency in programming languages such as SQL, Python, and Spark. Experience with Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Azure SQL Database, Azure Synapse Analytics, and other Azure data services. Familiarity with data governance, data quality, and data security best practices. Experience with DevOps practices, agile methodologies, and collaboration tools. Certifications in relevant technologies such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer or other industry-standard certifications would be beneficial.
