Job Summary
The Catheterization Lab Supervisor is responsible for maintaining accountability for daily operations and delivery of patient care through assisting the Manager with supervising, leading, and mentoring Cath Lab staff. This role serves as a role model and expert resource to Cath Lab staff, supports the Cath Lab team as needed, and assists with personnel actions, staff development, evaluation, and counseling/coaching.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Cath Lab Manager to resolve work-related issues and ensure effective communication among staff, management, and other departments.
- Assist with completing performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to staff.
- Oversee the Cath Lab staffing schedule needs in accordance with budget and target guidelines, proactively reviewing future schedules.
- Assist the Cath Lab Manager in designing and implementing an orientation program that addresses the individual needs of new employees.
- Promote a motivating, nurturing, and empowering environment for staff.
- Work with employees to facilitate and achieve skill, educational, and performance goals.
- Ensure staff accountability, monitor and recognize staff performance, and provide real-time constructive feedback.
- Identify performance opportunities for improvement and provide resources and education as needed.
- Collaborate with the clinical manager regarding staff performance and provide input on employee evaluations.
- Occasionally may need to take a patient assignment.
Staff Development
- Collaborate with the Cath Lab Manager to ensure staff members are adequately trained and competent to perform all required job tasks.
- Assist the Cath Lab Manager in creating and sustaining a learning environment supported by evidence-based practice and research.
- Focus on personal development areas, engaging in professional/collegial interactions with peers and students.
- Work collaboratively with peers and other healthcare providers, and participate in ongoing in-service and educational seminars.
- Participate in the mentoring and education of colleagues.
Compliance/Safety
- Responsible for reporting any safety-related incidents in a timely fashion through the Midas/RDE tool.
- Attend all safety-related training programs and perform work in a safe manner.
- Monitor the work environment for possible safety issues and ensure others are also performing work in a safe manner.
- Adhere to regulatory and organizational standards affecting patient care and safety, as well as all hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
- Practice in a safe and cost-effective manner.
- Stay current and comply with state and federal regulations/statutes and company policies that impact the employee's area of responsibility.
- Ensure all certifications and/or licenses are up-to-date and valid prior to expiration dates.
- Complete all company mandatory modules and required job-specific training in the specified time frame.
- Maintain timely and accurate documentation of assessments, interventions, EMR entries, and patient responses.
