Position Overview:
The Wildlife Enforcement Captain is tasked with overseeing the administration and execution of law enforcement initiatives within the designated geographic area. This role involves supervising law enforcement personnel and managing operations to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations regarding fish and wildlife conservation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement the Department's strategic plan for law enforcement activities.
- Plan, assign, and evaluate operational objectives to achieve timely and cost-effective outcomes.
- Monitor budgetary allocations and personnel expenditures.
- Direct activities through subordinate officers and ensure effective utilization of resources.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide guidance for professional development.
- Facilitate training programs for staff to enhance career growth.
- Enforce state and federal laws related to fish and wildlife conservation.
- Maintain communication with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies on mutual concerns.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisory personnel.
Qualifications:
Applicants should possess a bachelor’s degree in Fish and Wildlife Biology, Park Management, Outdoor Recreation, Criminal Justice, or a related field, along with a minimum of five years of relevant experience. Candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Be at least 18 years of age.
- Be a U.S. citizen and a resident of Montana.
- Maintain excellent physical and mental health, passing required medical and agility assessments.
