This position focuses on the engineering, design, integration, deployment, and ongoing support of Windows Server and desktop environments, specifically targeting Windows Server 2019/2022 and Windows 11. The successful candidate will possess extensive expertise in Active Directory, Group Policy, digital certificates, and PowerShell, with a minimum of 10 years of experience in Windows ecosystems.
Position Details:
- Title: Functional Subject Matter Expert (Windows)
- Clearance: Top Secret, with willingness to undergo CI Polygraph
- Duration: Full-time
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver expert guidance in Windows Server 2019/2022 and Windows 11 environments, including Core and Server with Desktop Experience.
- Design, implement, and maintain the Windows Infrastructure, focusing on Active Directory, Group Policy, digital certificates, DNS, and DHCP.
- Oversee the management of both bare-metal and virtual machines, ensuring proper Windows distribution and network setup.
- Create and sustain baseline images for Windows Servers and Desktops, applying security standards and ensuring optimal configurations.
- Develop deployment strategies for baseline images utilizing various methods such as PXE Boot, WDS, and USB devices.
- Engineer and document Windows Deployment Services and related deployment servers.
- Proactively monitor server performance and resolve issues to maintain high availability.
- Write and maintain custom PowerShell scripts to enhance system efficiency and automate routine tasks.
- Ensure seamless systems integration with Windows for authentication and single sign-on capabilities.
- Maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including system configurations and security protocols.
- Facilitate knowledge transfer to staff through training and best practices.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- At least 10 years of experience in Windows environments.
- Proven Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Windows systems, including engineering and deployment.
- In-depth knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, digital certificates, and related technologies.
- Proficient in PowerShell scripting and automation techniques.
- Experience with system management and deployment tools like SCCM or MECM.
- Strong understanding of networking concepts, including TCP/IP and routing.
- Familiarity with Windows Deployment Services and related tools.
- Experience in troubleshooting and securing Windows systems in various environments.
- Ability to provide advanced support and collaborate with vendors for issue resolution.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in a relevant discipline.
- Professional experience in PowerShell programming.
- Background in large-scale IT environments, particularly in government or defense sectors.
