Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Correctional Officer to maintain custody and security of prisoners and other incarcerated offenders in our correctional institutions and other places of detention.

Key Responsibilities
  • Enforce all institutional policies, rules, procedures, and regulations to maintain order and discipline within assigned areas.
  • Escort offenders in transit and during temporary leaves, and guard facility entrances to screen visitors.
  • Handle and train canines for tracking, search and rescue, guard duty, and detection of contraband.
  • Inspect, inventory, and maintain physical control of keys, tools, weapons, and related equipment.
  • Observe conduct and behavior of offenders to prevent disturbances and escapes.
  • Oversee offenders during work assignments, meals, and recreation periods, and patrol assigned areas to report any problems.
  • Prepare admission, program, releases, transfers, and other reports, and respond to emergencies.
  • Take offenders in custody and escort them to locations within and outside of the facility, and transport offenders to and from correctional facilities.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Any combination of training and experience that would enable the applicant to meet the minimum standards of the Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training Council (P.O.S.T.).
