About Our Retail Team

Join our dedicated Retail Team at The Salvation Army. This opportunity allows you to cultivate customer service skills, problem-solving abilities, and teamwork while contributing to the success of our program and its participants.

Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional customer service by greeting customers promptly and courteously, assisting them with their needs, and ensuring a positive shopping experience.
  • Prepare merchandise for display on the sales floor by stocking items accurately and efficiently.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and inviting store environment by performing cleaning duties as assigned by management.
  • Handle point-of-sale (POS) transactions accurately and in accordance with The Salvation Army's policies and procedures.
  • Adhere to safety and compliance standards to ensure a secure and productive work environment.
  • Receive, unload, and stock incoming inventory items accurately and efficiently.
  • Inspect products for defects and damages to maintain quality assurance.
  • Assist donors by courteously removing donated items from their vehicles and providing receipts.
  • Sort and separate donated materials into designated containers according to management instructions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Ability to accurately operate POS systems and handle cash transactions.
  • Successful completion of a background check, including criminal history and sex offender registry checks.
  • Excellent communication skills for interacting with management, fellow employees, customers, and donors.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist frequently or continuously.
  • Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, merchandise carts, rolling racks, and other equipment.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to perform repetitive motion tasks.
  • Must be able to perform duties with or without reasonable accommodation.

Schedule

Our retail operations require flexibility, and employees may be scheduled for various shifts, including weekends and holidays.
