About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Tax Senior Manager to join our Indirect Tax team at RSM US LLP. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing expert tax advice to our clients on complex sales tax issues, including Washington Excise Taxes (B&O, sales and use and REET) and general gross receipts and sales and use tax consulting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage complex engagements, providing high-value quality tax advice to clients and seeking to expand services to clients.
  • Drive growth and profitability of the industry/specialty area by generating new revenue on existing client portfolios, cross-selling, and new clients for the tax practice.
  • Advise clients on Washington B&O tax matters, Washington Real Estate Excise Tax (REET), Washington sales and use tax consulting, audit defense, M&A due diligence, and other state sales and use tax as well as gross receipts tax consulting in conjunction with the overall tax team.
  • Serve as a career advisor, mentor, or coach to one or more employees, providing honest and timely performance feedback.
  • Train and develop staff members.
  • Work on multiple complex issues, communicating in a non-technical manner to facilitate communication between the client and the service team while managing risk for both the client and the firm.
  • Interact directly with clients, handling questions, planning, consulting, etc.
  • Serve as a Tax client service coordinator, developing and executing the firm's client service plan.
  • Review research findings and ensure conclusions are consistent with firm policies and professional standards.
  • Build relationships across lines of business to ensure excellent client service through an integrated service approach.
  • Remain up-to-date on current tax practices and changes in tax law.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • 8+ years of experience providing Washington Excise Tax, gross receipts tax, and sales and use tax consulting services in a Public Accounting, Consulting, or Law Firm.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.
  • CPA, JD, LLM, or EA.
  • Must be able to support financial growth efforts and manage a book of business.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, detail-oriented, and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Proven track record simultaneously managing multiple projects and engagement teams for various clients.
  • Project management and critical thinking skills.

The salary range (or starting rate for interns and associates) for this role represents numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions, including education, skills, work experience, certifications, location, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.
