Job Description
The Housing Navigator will play a critical role in researching the housing market to establish connections with landlords, public housing providers, and local housing authorities to develop affordable housing options for Homes for All Veterans (HAV) veteran households throughout the region. This individual will have a caseload of dual-enrolled veterans who are also enrolled in the HUD-VASH program. The Housing Navigator will actively work with both the HAV team and the HUD-VASH team. This role will be located in the Colorado Springs area and will require travel throughout the area.

Essential Duties
  • Recruit and maintain strong relationships with local landlords, public housing providers, local housing authorities, civilian and government agencies serving the homeless population.
  • Maintain a current list of qualified Landlords for the Colorado Springs region.
  • Represent the HAV program with local housing providers to provide them a single point-of-contact for questions and issues regarding the HAV program.
  • Coordinate with the HUD-VASH team to facilitate the search, application, and entry into permanent housing for HAV client households.
  • Maintain contact with the HUD-VASH staff members about all veterans on caseload.
  • Develop knowledge of local housing laws and common practices and communicate that knowledge to HAV staff and veterans.
  • Provide support, education, and mentoring to Landlords on tenant-landlord rights to facilitate good tenant-landlord relations and tenant behaviors that promote permanent housing and stability.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with administrative support staff to assure completion of necessary information.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to evaluate individual needs and requires professional judgment within established policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of basic computer functions.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
