We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Food Service Worker to join our team at Falk School. As a key member of our food service team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our cafeteria and kitchen facilities.
Responsibilities- Perform routine manual labor associated with food preparation and cleaning of cafeteria and kitchen facilities.
- Assist with lunch tray line and food preparation, following all operational and safety procedures provided.
- Identify food service delivery problems and determine appropriate remedies.
- Assist with daily cleaning duties in cafeteria, including cleaning equipment and work areas, mopping, operating dishwasher and/or scrubbing pots and pans, cleaning up at end of shift, and putting away/disposing of leftovers.
- Organize food service and dining areas, and prepare a variety of foods according to food service managers' instructions, following approved procedures.
- Assist in maintaining order in the cafeteria as needed, report unusual problems to the building principal.
- Remove trash and clean kitchen garbage containers, and carry food supplies, equipment, and utensils to and from storage and work areas.
- Accurately keep records of the quantities of food used, complete daily reports, forms, etc.
- Make recommendations to the food service manager for improvements to the breakfast and lunch program.
- Assume other duties as assigned by food service manager.
- Interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with fellow staff.
- Skills and abilities normally associated with the completion of high school or GED equivalency.
- Ability to read, understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
- Knowledge of general food service methods and procedures.
- Strong organization skills and close attention to detail.
- Working knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
Frequently requires physical exertion to reach, bend, walk, climb, stoop, kneel and stand for long periods of time. Must be able to frequently move, lift, carry and push heavy objects more than 45 pounds. Manual dexterity and coordination to operate a variety of kitchen equipment not limited to dishwasher, oven, hot box, slicers, etc. Ability for distance and close vision and depth perception. Most work is indoors, occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals.
