PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Ensure the safe, organized, and efficient transit of students to and from educational institutions and during extracurricular activities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

High School Diploma or equivalent

Licenses and Certifications:

Valid Class B Texas Commercial Driver's License with necessary endorsements for passenger and school bus
Current certification from the Texas Department of Public Safety for School Bus Drivers

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Minimum age of 18
Ability to comprehend and execute both verbal and written instructions
Must uphold an acceptable driving record as per Texas Department of Public Safety standards
Capable of passing an annual physical and mental evaluation mandated by Texas Department of Public Safety
Must successfully complete pre-employment and routine drug and alcohol screenings as required by federal regulations
Proficient in reading, writing, and verbal communication in English

EXPERIENCE:

Prior experience working with children is advantageous but not mandatory
Previous experience as a school bus operator is beneficial but not essential

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Mental Demands:

Maintain emotional stability; effective communication skills; ability to manage groups of students efficiently

Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Must be capable of climbing in and out of the school bus emergency exit for evacuation procedures; prolonged periods of sitting, reaching, bending; repetitive hand and arm movements; work conducted both indoors and outdoors; moderate exposure to extreme weather conditions; exposure to vehicle emissions.

Must be able to lift items weighing up to 50 pounds.
