The Medical X-Ray Technologist at Intermountain Health is responsible for performing medical imaging examinations under the direction of a physician. This technologist produces x-ray images, maintains equipment, and communicates effectively with patients and healthcare teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Produce x-ray images of specified body areas as directed by physicians or radiologists, ensuring clear and undistorted films.
- Position and instruct patients regarding x-ray procedures, promoting their comfort and safety.
- Perform x-ray procedures using portable machines as requested by the Emergency Department and nursing units.
- Process films for radiologists reading/interpretation following established procedures.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, healthcare team members, and physicians both in-person and via telephone.
- Maintain X-ray and other equipment in efficient operating order, performing regular preventative maintenance as needed.
Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent, required.
- Successful completion of an approved radiological training program and registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association, required.
