Neurosurgery Medical Professional Wanted for Inpatient Team

The Albany Medical Center Department of Neurosurgery is seeking a highly skilled Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join our inpatient team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for coordinating follow-up care and discharge planning from 12:00pm - 8:30pm. The salary range for this position is $110,598 - $130,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
Job Description:The selected candidate will have the responsibility and accountability for the assessment and management of patients, including ordering diagnostic tests, consultations, therapeutic interventions, and the daily implementation and evaluation of an appropriate plan of care. You will augment a physician's ability to provide medical services to patients, collect and document data, conduct diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, order and schedule laboratory studies and professional consultations, and provide direct patient care services.
Key Responsibilities:- You will apply knowledge of anatomy, principles of neurology, microbiology, physiology, psychology, human disabilities, pharmacology, gerontology, human growth and development, human developmental disease, and medical terminology as appropriate in an in-patient setting and as appropriate for level of medical licensure.
- You will conduct patient assessments and complete physical examinations, collect clinical data, including vital signs, collecting specimens, prepare patients for tests, therapy, or treatments, order and interpret medical laboratory test results, diagnose medical conditions of patients, administer medications or treatments, and perform minor surgery.
- You will have knowledge of the information and techniques needed to diagnose and treat human injuries, diseases, and deformities, including symptoms, treatment alternatives, drug properties and interactions, and preventive healthcare measures.
- You will round and coordinate care for our inpatient consult service for patients who are admitted to other services, including Trauma, Surgery, Medicine, Pediatrics, and Ob/Gyn.
- You will complete accurate patient coding for effective billing, maintain accurate and detailed patient medical reports, and maintain inventory of medical supplies and instruments.
- You will serve as a resource and team leader during clinical shifts to ensure the smooth flow of patient processing, treatment, and discharge, including patient triaging.
