Airport Safety Assistant

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Safety Aide at the Oakland International Airport. As a key member of our public safety team, you will be responsible for observing assigned areas and checkpoints, documenting and reporting suspicious activities, and providing assistance to the general public.
Key Responsibilities:
- Observe and report on activities relating to public safety functions
- Document and report suspicious activities to appropriate staff
- Assist the general public and provide information on airport policies and procedures
- Work courteously with the public and maintain a professional demeanor
- Operate public safety communications equipment and maintain accurate records
Requirements:
- Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent
- Valid California State Motor Vehicle Operator's license
- Ability to pass a thorough background investigation
- Must have eyesight correctable to 20/20 and be able to hear and speak suitably for normal conversation
Working Conditions:
- Must be available to work varying shifts, including days, evenings, weekends, and rotating shifts
- Must be able to accept positions throughout Alameda County and be subject to rotation of assignments
Knowledge and Skills:
- Basic security principles
- Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle and operate public safety communications equipment
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in writing and verbally
- Ability to work independently and use good judgment in emergency or critical situations
