Are you passionate about the fast-paced world of power trading and eager to develop your career in real-time electricity markets? We're seeking a skilled Junior Real-Time Trader to join our dynamic team in Austin, TX. You'll be working on optimizing physical and financial trading positions within the Day-Ahead and Real-Time markets, particularly for battery storage, wind, and solar assets. This is an exciting opportunity to build your expertise in trading strategies and market analysis while playing a key role in maximizing value for clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement trading strategies to optimize battery storage, wind, and solar assets within day-ahead and real-time markets.
  • Conduct in-depth market analysis to assess near-term supply and demand dynamics, competitor strategies, and transmission constraints.
  • Design and implement internal tools and processes to enhance scalability and business success.
  • Support asset onboarding, ISO monitoring, and documentation requests.
  • Participate in shift desk rotations, including weekends and overnight shifts, to manage real-time market opportunities and risks.

Must-Have Skills:

  • Strong interest or experience in short-term power trading, with a focus on managing the dispatch of physical assets.
  • Attention to detail and adherence to ERCOT business practices, nodal protocols, and NERC operating guidelines.
  • Ability to communicate complex issues effectively and prioritize workload in a time-sensitive environment.
  • Flexibility to participate in shift rotations (weekends and overnight).

Nice-to-Have Skills:

  • Knowledge of the ERCOT market's operations, rules, and key players.
  • Experience managing battery storage, wind, or solar technologies in competitive power markets.
  • Familiarity with real-time power and ancillary services market price drivers.
  • Experience with Python (Pandas), SQL databases, and post-trade analytics.
