About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Physician Assistant to join our team at UT Health Science Center. As a key member of our surgical team, you will provide advanced medical care to patients in a fast-paced surgical setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct complex patient assessments and provide appropriate treatment under the direction of a surgeon.
  • Perform minor surgical procedures as delegated by the supervising physician.
  • Manage pre-operative and post-operative patients in coordination with the faculty supervising physician.
  • Utilize advanced assessment skills to anticipate complex patient problems specific to surgery.
  • Assist in collecting patient histories and performing physical examinations.
  • Order and interpret laboratory tests, including blood and urine samples.
  • Monitor treatment programs and inform attending physicians of pertinent medical/surgical information.
  • Provide guidance and instruction to patients on preventive health care or postsurgical care.
  • Assist physicians in formulating therapeutic decisions.
  • Enter chart documentation for review and counter signature by the physician.
  • Prepare and care for supplies and equipment.
  • Respond to emergency situations.
Requirements
  • Current Texas Licensure as a Physician Assistant.
  • Current Physician Assistant certification issued by the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certified or specialty required by department.
  • Proficient in the use of medical and surgical instruments and equipment required by work.
