Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and oversee the activities of Assistant Superintendents (for larger projects) and craft personnel, determining construction methods, manpower requirements, material quantities, equipment needs, temporary power sources, work schedules, and documenting actual hours worked.
  • Coordinate assigned tasks with the work of various crafts, company departments, or other contractors.
  • Maintain communication with engineering, estimating, and planning teams to ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, and schedules.
  • Assist in resolving construction-related issues such as productivity challenges and work interfaces.
  • Collaborate with the Labor Relations Department to maintain union communications, resolve jurisdictional disputes, and requisition necessary manpower as applicable to project labor strategies.
  • Monitor compliance with project safety protocols; document and ensure implementation of corrective actions.
  • Liaise with other departments (e.g., Material Control, Purchasing, Quality Control, Engineering) to ensure all necessary materials, equipment, inspections, etc., support craft activities and project timelines. Titles may include: Construction Superintendent (for civil work), Structural Superintendent, Mechanical Superintendent, Electrical Superintendent, among others.
  • May oversee all field aspects of smaller projects with support from the home office.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; professional industry training and experience are essential.
  • A minimum of eight years of supervisory experience in similar construction technologies, methods, equipment, tools, and procedures is required.
  • Advanced knowledge of construction scheduling, cost management, and demonstrated ability to supervise large teams.
  • Prior experience with commercial and/or industrial project scopes valued at $15M or more.
  • Willingness to travel as required for job site assignments.
