Job Summary:We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Cook II to join our team at the Texas Department of Aging & Disability Services. As a Cook II, you will be responsible for preparing and serving food to our residents, ensuring that all meals are prepared and presented in a safe and sanitary manner.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook food according to prescribed menus and recipes.
- Portion and distribute food to residents and staff.
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment, adhering to sanitation and safety standards.
- Supervise and train other kitchen staff as needed.
- Assist with inventory management and ordering of food and supplies.
- Participate in food safety and sanitation training and adhere to all guidelines.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 1-2 years of experience in food preparation and service.
- Ability to lift 25 pounds and stand for long periods.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation procedures.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask.
Working Conditions:
- Work in a kitchen environment with frequent exposure to heat, steam, and noise.
- May be required to work variable shifts, including weekends and holidays.
- May be required to lift and move heavy objects.
