Job Summary

The WIC Registered Dietitian plays a vital role in supporting the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program at Access Health Louisiana. As a key member of our team, you will provide essential information to program participants regarding program guidelines, voucher use, and nutrition education. You will also be responsible for documenting medical records and monitoring WIC vendor compliance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Support: Provide accurate and timely information to program participants on program guidelines, voucher use, and nutrition education.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records for program participants.
  • Vendor Compliance: Monitor and ensure WIC vendors are in compliance with program regulations.
  • Outreach and Collaboration: Participate in outreach efforts to other agencies and community organizations, working collaboratively with providers, management, and support staff.
Requirements
  • Education: Possession of a permanent Louisiana Dietitian/Nutritionist License or a Bachelor's degree in human nutrition, dietetics, food and nutrition.
  • Experience: Two (2) years of professional experience in public health nutrition, clinical or hospital dietetics, or a related field.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of WIC certification processes, medical terminology related to nutrition, and strong computer literacy and typing skills.
  • Personal Qualities: Alert, analytic ability, creative problem-solving ability, good memory and concentration, good judgment, initiative, patience, and a calm, professional attitude in stressful situations.
Working Conditions
  • Physical Demands: Stands, sits, walks, and converses most of the day, with occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force.
  • Environmental Factors: Normal routine involves no exposure to blood, body fluid, or tissue, and incumbents are not called upon to perform or assist in emergency care or first aid.
