Supervising Code Enforcement Officer

The Sacramento County CA is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Supervising Code Enforcement Officer to join our team. As a key member of our Code Enforcement department, you will be responsible for supervising, assigning, reviewing, and participating in the work of staff responsible for conducting investigations to ensure compliance with and enforcement of State and local codes.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise and manage a team of code enforcement officers, providing guidance and support to ensure the successful completion of investigations and enforcement activities.
- Assign and review work, ensuring that all tasks are completed to a high standard and in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Participate in the development and implementation of code enforcement strategies and programs, working closely with other departments and stakeholders to achieve our goals.
- Conduct investigations and enforcement activities, using your knowledge of State and local codes to identify and address non-compliance.
- Collaborate with other agencies and stakeholders to share best practices and improve code enforcement efforts.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with community members, businesses, and other stakeholders to promote code compliance and enforcement.
- Stay up-to-date with changes in State and local codes, regulations, and policies, ensuring that our team is equipped to effectively enforce and educate the public.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in code enforcement or a related field, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or lead capacity.
- Successful completion of 60 semester (90 quarter) units from an accredited college or university, with a minimum of 18 semester (27 quarter) units in a related field such as criminal justice, law enforcement, public administration, or construction.
- Valid California Driver License, Class C or higher, and a valid Penal Code (PC) 832, Arrest, Search & Seizure Certification or equivalent.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds of equipment and work in a variety of environments, including residential, industrial, and rural areas.
- Work in and around residential, industrial, and rural areas with exposure to aggressive and/or ill animals, and persons exhibiting signs of distress, hostility, anxiety, frustration, or irritation.
- Work in and around substandard living areas with exposure to animal or human waste, vermin, dirt, dust, fumes, odors, and other contaminants.
- Be exposed to electrical current, solvents, and/or chemicals, traffic hazards, insect bites or stings.
- Work outside in all types of climatic conditions, including inclement, very hot, or cold weather.
- Work in dangerous, high-crime areas of the community.
- Work off-shift (nights and weekends).
