Role Summary

We are seeking a Geotechnical Consultant Engineer to join our team. This role involves providing geotechnical engineering support for various projects, including due diligence, investigations, remediation, impact assessments, permitting, and construction in both public and private sectors. Responsibilities include assisting in the research, design, analysis, and planning of infrastructure projects such as roads, buildings, tunnels, dams, and water supply systems. You will also generate precise reports and documentation regarding materials, installations, and construction specifications, ensuring adherence to industry standards for quality, safety, and functionality.

Your Contributions
  • Gather, compile, and analyze data from various sources including physical work sites, soil and water samples, surveys, and geotechnical data for project development.
  • Maintain quality control standards for accurate measurements and statistical analysis of environmental data.
  • Conduct professional geotechnical engineering tasks, including site inspections and subsurface investigations to ensure compliance with relevant standards and permits.
  • Incorporate advanced modeling techniques and design requirements to enhance safety and functionality in engineering solutions.
  • Collaborate with a diverse team of engineers and planners to execute project work, ensuring compliance with specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Assess site characteristics and provide technical guidance on environmental and geological factors that may impact project safety.
  • Prepare data visualizations and technical reports to communicate findings effectively.
  • Assist in the development and management of small to medium-sized projects.
  • Contribute to the preparation of presentations and reports that address design and construction challenges.
  • Conduct geotechnical studies to gather further information for design and planning purposes.
  • Support the analysis and interpretation of field investigation data to inform risk mitigation strategies.
  • Participate in the creation and implementation of site Health and Safety Plans.
  • Work collaboratively with engineers and planners on federally and locally funded projects.
  • Exercise ethical decision-making regarding company resources and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as needed based on business requirements.
Qualifications

Essential Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Geotechnical Engineering or a closely related field.
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in engineering and geotechnical design.
  • Engineer in Training Certification.
  • Technical expertise in geotechnical engineering principles, including foundation design and slope stability.
  • Experience in infrastructure planning and construction management.
  • Strong understanding of rock and soil mechanics for foundation and earth structure design.
  • Ability to coordinate with regulatory agencies and understand compliance requirements.
  • Effective communication skills for interaction with diverse audiences.
  • Proficient in technical writing and use of design software.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills for data analysis and project solutions.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to health and safety policies.
  • Flexibility to accommodate project-specific schedules and occasional travel.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Engineering.
  • Professional Licensure/Certification.
  • 40-Hour OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER).
  • Basic First Aid and Adult CPR training.
