As a Facilities Mechanic, you will be responsible for the safe and effective operation and maintenance of our facilities equipment, including ammonia refrigeration plants, cold storage facilities, steam boilers, and more.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate and maintain facilities equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety.
  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks to prevent equipment failures and downtime.
  • Use basic fabrication skills, such as welding and shop tools, to repair and maintain equipment.
  • Create and close work orders, and check equipment history and parts using our computerized maintenance management system.
  • Participate in the Ammonia Emergency Response Team and respond to emergencies as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and leadership to ensure smooth operations.
  • Work independently and as part of a team to achieve common goals.
  • Participate in training and development programs to improve skills and knowledge.
  • Coach and train teammates on new skills and procedures.
  • Prioritize food safety and sanitation by understanding and executing our company's policies and procedures.
  • Report any safety incidents or concerns to leadership.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1 year of industrial maintenance experience preferred.
  • Ability to acquire RETA CARO certification.
  • Ability to lift up to 60 pounds.
  • Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with ammonia refrigeration systems and RETA CARO certification.
  • Dairy industry experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office software.
  • Potable wastewater or water systems experience.
  • SAP knowledge.
  • Boiler knowledge.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:

The physical demands of this job include standing, walking, using hands to finger, handle or feel, and reaching with hands and arms. The employee must be able to work at heights and in small areas. The employee must be physically capable of working in any job task within the cheese plant.
