About the Role
The Audiologist at UNC Health Care is responsible for administering various diagnostic audiological tests, including comprehensive audiologic evaluations, hearing aid testing and evaluation, selection and fitting to all populations, electrophysiological testing, and balance testing.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintains a safe environment for patients, self, and others.
- Performs comprehensive audiologic evaluations, balance assessments, and electrophysiological tests.
- Provides amplification services, including hearing aid assessment testing and real ear measurements.
- Consults with and makes recommendations on hearing disorders to physicians.
- Coordinates care with physicians and other providers.
- Completes chart notes for each patient seen and sends written reports to referring physicians and primary care physicians.
Qualifications
Education Requirements
Requires AuD or Master's degree in Audiology with continuous active certification.
Licensure/Certification Requirements
NC State Audiology License; BCLS; Master's level candidates also need a license/certificate from NC Hearing Aid Dealer's and Fitters Board.
Professional Experience Requirements
Audiologist experience preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Requirements
Excellent interpersonal skills that allow effective working relationships with a diverse customer, colleague, and vendor population. This includes listening, sales, and problem-solving skills. Strong keyboard/computer/Audiology diagnostic and hearing aid software and equipment experience. Must be able to organize time and prioritize numerous duties. Must deal with customers in a caring and respectful manner.
