Job Summary

Village Management Services, Inc. is seeking a skilled Automotive Technician to join our team at Laguna Woods Village. As a key member of our community, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing all types of automotive equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive and operate automotive equipment to diagnose and repair malfunctions.
  • Inspect and test equipment at regular intervals or upon malfunction.
  • Overhaul internal combustion engines and install new ignition systems.
  • Balance wheels, change or recharge batteries, and replace transmissions and other parts.
  • Inspect, test, and maintain electrical systems and controls in automobiles.
  • Examine protective guards, loose bolts, and safety devices on vehicles and make adjustments.
  • Tune up engines to maintain combustion control standards.
  • Adjust equipment to meet state DOT standards for motor vehicle inspections and safety.
  • Lubricate moving parts and drive repaired vehicles to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Use specialized auto mechanic tools and equipment, including hoist wrenches, gauges, drills, and grinders.

Requirements:

  • Graduation from high school and extensive mechanical experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions, as well as PC and applicable software programs.
  • Knowledge of electronics and their application in vehicles, as well as methods, materials, tools, and techniques used in automotive repair.
  • Ability to read and write work-related job instructions in English and to pass general mechanical and electrical skills and knowledge tests.
  • Skill in the use and operation of tools and machinery used in mechanical repair work.

Special Requirements:

  • Possession of a valid California driver's license and ability to obtain a Class A license.
  • Ability to obtain two of the following ASE certificates: Manual Drive Train & Axles, Gasoline Engines, Brakes, Suspension & Steering, Electrical Systems, Engine Performance, or Factory certifications from Ford, GM, Chevrolet, Dodge, and other comparable manufacturers.
