Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Pipefitter to join our team at the U.S. Pacific Fleet. As a Pipefitter, you will be responsible for performing shop, ship, and submarine work using building and ship plans, blueprints, and sketches to plan and lay out the routing placement, pitch, elevation, and operation of various piping systems and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform shop, ship, and submarine work using building and ship plans, blueprints, and sketches to plan and lay out the routing placement, pitch, elevation, and operation of various piping systems and equipment.
  • Work independently or with a journeyman installing, modifying, and repairing systems by setting up system routes, placing and cutting route openings, placing hangars for proper pitch and elevation.
  • Install such things as risers, flexible branches, expansion joints, gauges, and pressure regulators in systems to support proper system operation.
  • Plan and complete routing and placement of systems leading to equipment, install mechanical joints, seals, and test systems and equipment for proper pressurization, leak-free joints, and operation.
  • Make limited repairs to ships and submarines to steam-generated piping systems.
  • Perform maintenance of fuel oil, diesel, and gasoline piping systems.

Requirements:
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
  • New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Per E.O. 14043, selectee(s) must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 by 11/22/2021 or date of employment (which ever comes later) except in limited circumstances where a reasonable accommodation is approved because of a disability or religious beliefs.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators, and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
