Position Summary

The Logistics Coordinator is tasked with the essential responsibility of scheduling and routing both fleet and contracted transportation shipments for manufacturing facilities and distribution centers across multiple states. This role focuses on enhancing shipment efficiency by strategically planning backhaul loads and optimizing drivers' service hours.

Key Responsibilities

  • Address and resolve transportation-related issues, including invoices, customs, and delivery delays.
  • Prioritize tasks effectively, shifting focus to urgent matters while maintaining progress on other responsibilities.
  • Collaborate within a team environment to provide mutual support as needed.
  • Be prepared for occasional travel, up to 10% of the time.
  • Review outstanding orders and delivery timelines to prioritize fleet and hired carrier scheduling.
  • Coordinate regional shipment requests from various manufacturing sites to optimize routing efficiency.
  • Utilize Oracle Transportation Management software to maintain shipping information, including carrier assignments, rating accuracy, scheduling, and equipment needs.
  • Act as the primary contact for carriers, securing capacity to meet fluctuating shipping demands, negotiating rates, and ensuring compliance with delivery instructions and safety requirements.
  • Monitor carrier accounts to identify issues and initiate claims for damaged or missing products.
  • Communicate delivery schedules to clients and prepare necessary shipping documentation.
  • Work closely with production and sales teams to expedite and track shipments.
  • Audit and maintain driver records, including hours of service and compliance with DOT regulations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

To excel in this role, candidates must demonstrate the ability to fulfill each essential duty satisfactorily. The following qualifications are indicative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required:

  • A minimum of a two-year degree in business or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in logistics with a solid understanding of DOT regulations and internal fleet scheduling.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills, along with proficiency in language and mathematics.

Work Environment

This position primarily operates in an office setting, with occasional requirements to perform duties outside the typical office environment.
