Responsibilities:


We seek dedicated professionals who will champion the Select Medical Way, which emphasizes patient-first approaches, enhancing community quality of life, fostering innovation, delivering high-quality care, and doing what is ethically right.

Your role will involve delivering exceptional nutritional care to patients, including the development, implementation, and monitoring of Medical Nutrition Therapies.

You will collaborate with medical personnel, patients, families, and the food service team to ensure the effective execution of patients' nutrition care plans and adherence to departmental standards.

Conduct nutritional assessments and re-assessments, setting goals, recommending dietary interventions, and monitoring patient progress.

Develop and oversee enteral and/or parenteral nutrition support plans.


Work in conjunction with the Speech Therapy Department to facilitate the transition to textured modified diets, ensuring patient safety and optimizing oral intake.


Clarify admission orders to ensure that nutrition support, dietary, and oral supplement orders align with the facility's established nutrition support formulary and dietary guidelines.

Consider religious, cultural, and ethnic factors when formulating nutrition care plans.

Review and approve the therapeutic diet manual annually, and educate clinical and food service staff on the Nutrition Care Manual's location. Maintain a hard copy of a simplified diet manual for reference during downtimes.

Stay updated with current nutritional practices and theories. Maintain compliance with professional registration requirements (i.e., Professional Portfolio, self-development, and continuing education). Show a commitment to ongoing education, academic pursuits, or specialized certifications to enhance professional skills.

Evaluate potential interactions between food and medications, as well as herb/supplement interactions.

Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to communicate patient progress and special needs.

Contribute to the development, planning, and standardization of menus.


Conduct meal rounds to ensure that patients' meal trays comply with prescribed diets and meet standards for quality, quantity, temperature, and presentation.

Minimum requirements:
Bachelor's degree with a major in Food and Nutrition or a related field.

Current state licensure/certification, if mandated by state regulations.

Current registration with the Commission on Dietetics Registration.

One (1) year of experience in a clinical setting with relevant responsibilities or equivalent experience.
