About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Defense Health Agency as an Emergency Medicine Physician in San Antonio, Texas. As a key member of our team, you will provide high-quality patient care and contribute to the development of our emergency medicine services.

Responsibilities

As an Emergency Medicine Physician, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive adult care, including diagnosing and treating a wide range of medical and surgical conditions. You will work closely with our team to provide emergency medicine services, including performing invasive and non-invasive diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.

You will also be responsible for:

  • Providing clinical supervision for a wide range of patient presentations, ages, and conditions
  • Evaluating, examining, diagnosing, and treating medical, pediatric, psychiatric, obstetric, surgical, and traumatic disorders
  • Ordering appropriate laboratory, x-ray, and other diagnostic tests
  • Interpreting medical and surgical evidence to develop accurate diagnoses and treatment plans
  • Facilitating patient access to continuing medical care through referrals to other healthcare providers
  • Rending consultative opinions to other physicians and auxiliary health personnel
  • Maintaining health and clinical records in accordance with current regulations and standards
  • Directing the operation of the Emergency Medical Services team
  • Teaching and mentoring residents, interns, and other medical personnel
  • Participating in personal and group activities that disseminate and advance medical knowledge in the field of emergency medicine
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • A successful completion of an approved Emergency Medicine residency acceptable to the USAF Surgeon General
  • Board eligibility/certification by the American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM) or American Osteopathic Board of Emergency Medicine
  • A permanent, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine
  • Current certification in Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, and Pediatric Advanced Life Support
