Job Summary

The Department of Astronomy at San Diego State University is seeking qualified candidates for a part-time lecturer pool. We invite applications from prospective temporary faculty with expertise or experience in astronomy or physics.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach astronomy or physics courses at the undergraduate level
  • Develop and implement curriculum to meet the needs of students
  • Assess student learning and provide feedback
  • Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to departmental service

Qualifications

  • Master's degree or Ph.D. in astronomy or physics
  • University teaching experience or demonstrated ability to teach effectively
  • Demonstrated currency in subject matter

Salary and Benefits

Initial rank and salary for lecturer faculty are based on professional experience and educational background. Most new appointees are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank and placed at the beginning of the range.
