Position Summary:
The Radiology Intern Technologist operates under the supervision of a Registered Radiologic Technologist. This role is dedicated to the application of diagnostic imaging techniques through the safe and proficient use of ionizing radiation within the diagnostic radiology field.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assists in evaluating patient data pertinent to radiographic procedures.
  • Provides support in lifting and transporting patients to and from the Radiology department.

Educational Requirements:
Currently enrolled in an accredited radiology program, having successfully completed a minimum of one academic year with a GPA of 2.5 or higher (mandatory).

Licensing and Certifications:
BLS Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association (preferred upon hire, must be obtained from an approved source prior to engaging in direct patient care) (mandatory).

GXMO (General X-Ray Machine Operator) state limited license (preferred unless mandated by state regulations).

Work Environment:
Employees may experience periods of high stress and varying workloads. Potential exposure to physical confrontations and verbal abuse may occur. Responsibilities may include the use of physical restraints and exposure to high noise levels and bright lighting. Employees may also encounter hazardous substances or body fluids, including human blood and other infectious materials. The role may involve frequent interruptions and requires travel to off-site locations, with extended periods of working independently.

Patient Demographics:
Experience with a diverse patient population, including:
  • Neonates (0-4 weeks)

  • Geriatrics (65 years and older)

Additional Physical Requirements:
Manual dexterity, ability to perform shift work, and the capacity to manage patient weight are essential. Employees must be able to hear alarms and audio signals, reach above shoulder height, and perform repetitive arm and hand movements. Acuity for both near and far vision, depth perception, and the ability to work with latex products are also required. Exposure to various environmental hazards, including chemicals and electromagnetic energy, may occur.
