Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team at the Norfolk Veterans' Home. As a LPN, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to a supportive and inclusive environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Observe, evaluate, and chart patient behaviors, symptoms, and reactions to medications, diet, and environment.
  • Respond to patient calls and requests, and prepare and administer therapies and treatments as needed.
  • Document care activities in patient medical records and collect lab specimens as required.
  • Administer medications, chart time given and amounts on patient records, and respond to potential and actual adverse medication reactions.
  • Assist Registered Nurses in developing nursing care plans and participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to provide input into patient care planning.
  • Interpret care and treatment plans and approaches to other personnel, and review charting, evaluate, and report patient care to proper persons.
Requirements
  • A current license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in Nebraska or authority based on the Nurse Licensure Compact to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in Nebraska is required.
  • Knowledge of licensed practical nursing theory and practice, principles and techniques of patient care and treatments, medication and medication administration procedures and practices, and care and use of medical equipment and supplies.
  • Ability to evaluate nursing needs, exercise competent judgment, and communicate effectively, as well as prepare and maintain records, charts, and reports.
