Anderson County Government is seeking a skilled Recycling Technician to join our team. As a Recycling Technician, you will play a critical role in maintaining the county's solid waste transfer station and landfill, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate specialized solid waste equipment and machinery, including tow motors and bobcats, to move bales of plastic and other recycled materials.
  • Assist with the collection of recycled items from public facilities and convenience centers.
  • Perform light maintenance duties, including sanding and painting common areas, cleaning debris from dumping areas, and emptying drains.
  • Use hand and power tools to dismantle appliances and metal items for recycling.
  • Unload recyclable items from vehicles at drop-off locations.
  • Load tires into the tire trailer when necessary.
  • Clean equipment and machinery as required.
Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to interact tactfully with the public.
  • Sufficient strength to perform the physically demanding aspects of the job in a variety of weather conditions.
  • Possession of a valid Tennessee Commercial Driver's License, Class A, and the ability to be insured at standard vehicle liability rates.
