As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you will deliver skilled nursing care by executing assigned duties and services essential for providing quality resident care. You will adhere to established standards, as well as policies and procedures set forth by the Department of Health and Senior Services and Applewood.
Compensation: Rates vary based on experience, ranging from $31/hr to $37/hr, in addition to applicable shift differentials.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver respectful and considerate care tailored to the individual needs of residents.
Uphold the resident's right to make informed decisions regarding their medical care, including the option to discontinue treatment as permitted by law. - Exhibit the ability to gather and interpret information relevant to the age and needs of the residents.
- Demonstrate knowledge of growth, development, and adult health across the lifespan as it pertains to the role. Complete lifespan education as required.
- Accurately perform all scheduled and assigned tasks while continuously monitoring resident needs. Delegate and oversee care components to both professional and nonprofessional caregivers as appropriate.
- Implement fundamental nursing care and assist residents with daily living activities.
- Collect resident data accurately using learned technical skills under the supervision of the RN.
- Make informed decisions that reflect knowledge of nursing practices and utilize sound judgment in clinical and resident care scenarios.
- Participate in the preparation and intervention of diagnostic or therapeutic resident care.
- Ensure accountability for the administration, observation, documentation, and reporting of the effects of medications and other therapeutic measures in a safe and precise manner.
- Administer medications in accordance with established policies and manufacturer instructions.
- Identify adverse reactions to medications and take immediate, appropriate actions.
- Adhere to policies regarding restraint application, documentation, and observation.
- Involve residents and their families in the development of personalized care plans.
- Conduct pain assessments as indicated, promptly notifying the RN of any reports of pain or discomfort, and provide appropriate non-pharmacologic interventions as directed.
- Document pain assessments, interventions, and follow-ups accurately.
- Ensure reassessment of pain is documented per facility policy.
- Educate residents and families regarding pain management.
- Notify the physician for any unrelieved pain as necessary.
Qualifications
- Graduate from an accredited program for licensed practical nurses and possess a valid license to practice in New Jersey.
- Previous experience as an LPN is preferred.
- Current LPN license in New Jersey is required.
- BLS certification is mandatory.
- Strong professional, organizational, and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with all members of the healthcare team.
