Job Summary:

This position is responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment within the Medical Center and its related rental properties. The successful candidate will perform routine cleaning tasks, including cleaning units, rooms, areas, and facilities, as well as operating cleaning equipment and supplies.

Responsibilities:

  • Clean and service units, rooms, areas, and facilities, including showers, tubs, sinks, water/ice dispensers, counters, toilets, refrigerators, halls, stairways, walls, floors, ceilings, windows, elevators, patient beds, patient units, patient equipment, furniture of all kinds, operating suites, laboratories, procedure rooms, and offices.
  • Operate, push, and pull various carts, including work carts, soiled linen tubs, trash utility carts, supply carts, and large delivery carts.
  • Remove, handle, and transport soiled linen, trash, and medical wastes throughout the facility.
  • Operate waste compacting and cardboard bailing equipment.
  • Handle and load bags of soiled linen into washers for processing.
  • Unload wet linen from washers, load dryers, and unload dryers.
  • Perform manual sorting and folding of linens.
  • Stack clean linens on shelves.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Ability to perform simple mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to perform tasks in accordance with written and oral instructions.
  • Mandatory Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) training must be completed annually according to the Exposure Control Plan.

Working Conditions:

The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent exposure to stressful situations, including those involving public contact, as well as trauma, grief, and death. The candidate must be able to move freely about the facility with or without an assisted device and must be able to perform the functions of the job as outlined in the job description.
