Job Title: Engagement and Opportunity Professional/Direct Support Professional

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as an Engagement and Opportunity Professional/Direct Support Professional. In this role, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals with intellectual disabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized service plans to promote independence and self-sufficiency.
  • Assist residents with daily living tasks, including household chores, meal preparation, and personal care.
  • Provide support and guidance in completing homework and studies, as well as participating in social and recreational activities.
  • Conduct regular fire drills and maintain a safe and secure living environment.
  • Assist residents in expressing and fulfilling their needs within established facility policies.
  • Provide crisis intervention strategies and respond to emergency situations in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Participate in team meetings and support the implementation of facility policies and procedures.
  • Administer medications and maintain accurate records.
  • Attend in-service education programs and conferences to stay current with developments in the field.
  • Manage relationships with residents, visitors, families, and staff with tact and sensitivity.

Requirements:

  • A High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • One year of experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities.
  • Ability to climb stairs, pursue individuals, and participate in recreational activities.
  • Considerable upper body strength and full range of motion in arms, hands, legs, and feet.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and walk up to a mile at one time.

Work Environment:

The work environment consists of a home, office, recreational, and community milieus, and is navigable by those possessing the above-named physical requirements. This may include contact with residents with mental health issues who demonstrate behaviors such as cursing, shouting, running away, self-harm, and violence and abiding by the safety plans for the individuals with risk factors. Occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions while monitoring residents in the outside the home and assisting residents to and from transportation vehicles. May be exposed to odors such as fragrances, and cleaning products, and clients who experience difficulty with personal hygiene.
