ROLE SUMMARY:
This position involves the installation and management of low voltage systems within the telecommunications sector.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee and collaborate with cabling teams to ensure efficient project execution.
- Construct and organize telecommunications infrastructure, including closets.
- Implement cable support frameworks, utilizing systems such as cable trays and j-hooks.
- Install various types of cabling, including Cat 6, fiber optic, and security systems.
- Conduct terminations for Cat 6 outlets and optical fiber connections.
- Perform splicing for both copper and fiber optic cables.
- Execute testing procedures for copper and optical fiber cables.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot issues related to both copper and fiber optic systems.
- Utilize ladders and power tools safely and effectively.
- Lift and position equipment, including ladders weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Be available for overtime work as required.
- Work effectively under pressure to meet project deadlines.
ESSENTIAL TOOLS:
Must possess all necessary hand tools for communications technology and maintain them in optimal condition.
QUALIFICATIONS:
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
- Minimum of 5 years in the communications cabling field.
- Data Center experience is advantageous.
- Strong understanding of industry codes and standards.
- Ability to accurately document work progress and maintain records.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Professional demeanor and appearance.
DESIRED CERTIFICATIONS:
- BICSI Certified Technician (Installer 1 or 2) for Copper and/or Fiber.
- Additional manufacturer certifications are a plus.
- Other relevant certifications, such as Confined Space training.
